Greenbrier East's Annie Whited moved into 2nd late and finished in 12.25. Hedgesville's Jadyn Macher got a

and Morgantown's Allison Hawkins was in 8th at 1:09.12. 3 more were under 1:10 as the pack was tight. There was a
lot of movement on the 2nd lap, but it wasn't at the front, where Phillips was never challenged. She took the line in 2:13.14
to win by over 5 seconds, which is the 7th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 7th Best All-Time Class

1600 Meter Run
The race went off reasonably with Jefferson's Hannah Phillips leading the field out of the break. Greenbrier East's
Neena McClintic moved to the front shortly thereafter, and the field was very bunched through the 1st lap. McClintic
led at the line at 1:14.10. Phillips was in 2nd at 1:14.32. University's Abigail Rogers was in 3rd at 1:14.50.

pretty tight. Phillips was in 2nd at 2:34.47. McClintic was in 3rd at 2:34.72. Reese was in 4th at 2:34.75. Von Boetticher
was in 5th at 2:34.95. Busch was in 6th at 2:35.10. Johnson was in 7th at 2:35.49, and Morgantown's Lauren Hawkins
was in 8th at 2:35.67. 1.28 seconds from 1st to 8th. The top 10 were all within 2 seconds. Lap 3 was much of the same with

5th at 3:54.71. Von Boetticher was in 6th at 3:54.83. Busch was in 7th at 3:55.13. Johnson was in 8th at 3:55.47. Those
8 had generated about a 1.5 second gap on the rest of the field. On the 4th lap, McClintic swung wide and started to go around
Phillips, but Phillips responded and surged into the lead. McClintic got by Rogers just before the 200 mark. Phillips and
McClintic started to open a gap on Rogers through the turn. Phillips was able to maintain her advantage down the stretch
and take the win in 5:03.88 to McClintic's 5:04.70. Rogers held the 3rd spot in 5:06.53 with Reese taking 4th in 5:07.73.

was in 5th at 2:45.77. Busch was in 6th at 2:45.88. Simmons was in 7th at 2:46.03. Ballard remained in 8th at 2:46.09. So,
0.8 seconds between 1st and 8th. 1.6 seconds separated 1st from 14th. Metz continued to lead through lap 3, coming through

on the 4th lap. Von Boetticher moved into the lead at 5:37.08. Hawkins moved up to 2nd at 5:37.21, and Morgantown's

were still in contact. On lap 5, the pace ratcheted down anothe 3 seconds, and Hawkins moved into the lead at 6:58.65.
Voe Boetticher was in 2nd at 6:58.69. Johnson was in 3rd at 6:58.96. Hardin was in 4th at 6:59.54. The pack had broken up
as these 4 had nearly 3 seconds on the rest. Simmons was in 5th at 7:02.27. Metz was back up to 6th at 7:02.65 after falling
to 9th on the previous lap. Ballard had moved up to 7th at 7:04.76. Yates was in 8th at 7:05.06. On lap 6, the battle for
the lead dropped to 3 runners with Hawkins remaining in the front at 8:20.44. Johnson moved up to 2nd at 8:20.67, and Von
Boetticher was in 3rd at 8:21.03. Hardin remained in 4th at 8:28.25 but had been dropped from the group, and the pack was
starting to reel her in. Metz moved up to 5th at 8:30.21. Simmons was in 6th at 8:33.35. Busch was back up to 7th at 8:33.91.
Ballard was in 8th at 8:34.14. On lap 7, the Morgantown duo opened a gap on Von Boetticher. Hawkins still led at 9:40.95

take the win in 10:57.34. 5:37 front end, 5:20 back end. Hawkins held the 2nd spot in 10:58.91. Von Boetticher was 3rd in

the field by almost 2.5 seconds. Simmons moved up to 5th in 11:18.38. Metz held the 6th spot in 11:18.80. Hardin held on
for 7th in 11:21.47 with Busch in 8th in 11:22.79. One of my predicted placers scratched the event.
RunWV's Current Score: 38 of 48.
100 Meter High Hurdles
Huntington's Milleah Johnson got the edge over teammate Mallori Dunn-Martin to take the win in 14.64. Dunn-Martin
took the 2nd spot in 14.79. Morgantown's Josie Johnson was 3rd in 15.27. Huntington's Marcaria Johnson with
a 15.70 for 4th and St. Albans' Bethany Farry with a 15.88 for 5th were the only other ones under 16 seconds.
RunWV's Current Score: 45 of 56.
300 Meter Low Hurdles
Morgantown's Josie Johnson got out well and led early, but Huntington's Mallori Dunn-Martin made up the ground
and pulled away over the last two hurdles to take the win in 44.01 to repeat as champion. It also ties her for the 6th
Best All-Time State Meet Performance and for the 5th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Johnson
easily held the 2nd spot in 45.14 as the two were well clear of the field. St. Albans' Bethany Farry moved into 3rd
over the final hurdle to finish in 46.69 with Greenbrier East's Avery Thompson getting a 46.95 for 4th. Parkersburg's
Nevaeh Ross was 5th in 47.59 with Wheeling Park's K'Lyn Neider and Huntington's Milleah Johnson joining
them under 48 seconds with a 47.88 and 47.89, respectively.
RunWV's Current Score: 53 of 64.
4x100 Meter Relay
The Huntington team of Milleah Johnson, Mallori Dunn-Martin, Audrey Flynn, and Siraye Harper made up the stagger on
everyone to their outside by the 2nd exchange and sped to the win in 48.68, which is the 4th Best All-Time State Meet
Performance and the 4th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Martinsburg closed well for the 2nd spot
in 49.24. Washington joined them under 50 seconds with a 49.84. Greenbrier East was 4th with a 50.79. St. Albans and
John Marshall battled in Heat 1 to 51.18 and 51.25, which scored them 5th and 6th, respectively. Bridgeport and Woodrow
Wilson were also under 51.50 in taking the final two spots.
RunWV's Current Score: 59 of 72.
4x200 Meter Relay
The Greenbrier East crew of Kiana McClung, Noelle McClintic, Avery Thompson, and Annie Whited had a clear lead by the
middle of the 3rd leg, and with Whited on the end, there was no catching them as they went 1:43.63, which is the 4th Best
All-Time State Meet Performance and the 4th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Huntington was an
easy 2nd in 1:44.82. Spring Mills held off Woodrow Wilson and Washington for 3rd in 1:46.35. Woodrow was 4th in 1:46.65,
and Washington was 5th in 1:46.86. Jefferson was 6th in 1:47.26 from Heat 1, and Bridgeport was also under 1:48 with a 1:47.78
for 7th.
RunWV's Current Score: 64 of 80.
4x400 Meter Relay
We came into the 4x400 with the team title on the line. Morgantown came into the event up 91-90 on Huntington. But Huntington
was picked 3rd and Morgantown 8th, which would make it 96-92 Huntington. Morgantown was in Heat 1, and Huntington was in
Heat 2, so they weren't going to get to go head-to-head, and Huntington would know what they had to do. Greenbrier East was
the fastest through one leg at 1:01 with Morgantown at 1:02 in Heat 1. At the end of leg 2, Greenbrier East was in the lead
at 2:02.85, and Morgantown was in 2nd at 2:03.67. Huntington was putting up a fight in 3rd at 2:04.74. Fairmont Senior was
in 4th at 2:04.96. Jefferson was in 5th at 2:05.54. George Washington in Heat 1 was in 6th at 2:05.91. Spring Mills in
Heat 1 was in 7th at 2:06.47, and Cabell Midland was in 8th at 2:06.84. Leg 3 saw Greenbrier East continue to lead at 3:04.09.
Morgantown remained in 2nd at 3:04.77. Jefferson moved up to 3rd on a 59.67 leg from Imani Wood. Bridgeport moved
from 10th to 4th on a 57.46 leg from Giana Cox. Huntington was in 5th at 3:07.00. Fairmont Senior was in 6th at
3:08.47. Cabell Midland was in 7th at 3:08.82, and Parkersburg was up to 8th at 3:10.03. On the final leg, Jefferson's
Hannah Phillips made up the deficit by the middle of the backstretch and was able to get to the inside before the
turn and pulled away. She split 56.95 to give the Jefferson foursome of Avery Root, Sylvia Trevetha, Imani Wood, and
Hannah Phillips the win in 4:02.16. That is the 4th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 4th Best
All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Meanwhile, in Heat 1, Morgantown added Elecia McCurrie to the lineup.
I'm assuming this was part of the plan when she scratched the open 400. She split 58.77 to held get Morgantown 2nd place
and secure the team title with a 4:03.54. That ties their unit of Belicia McKendall, Josalyn Ammons, Josie Johnson,
and Elecia McCurrie a tie for the 9th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and for the 8th Best All-Time
Class AAA State Meet Performance. Greenbrier East held 3rd in 4:04.89. Bridgeport got a 59.74 anchlor leg from
LeeAnn Gaskins to secure 4th in 4:05.60, just holding off Huntington, who got a 58.68 anchor leg from Quincey
Mullins to take 5th in 4:05.68. Fairmont Senior held 6th in 4:09.98. Cabell Midland was 7th in 4:11.38, and Spring
Mills took 8th in 4:11.78.
RunWV's Current Score: 71 of 88.
4x800 Meter Relay
Morgantown and John Marshall were in a dead heat at the end of 1 leg at 2:23. I think Morgantown had the tiniest of
advantages. University was in 3rd at 2:24. I think it was Musselman in 4th at 2:25. A pair of teams crossed together
at about 2:27. It looks like maybe Jefferson and Cabell Midland. University moved to the lead and opened a bit of a gap,
but late in the leg, Cabell Midland came up to challenge and the pair crossed together at 4:51 with Midland having perhaps
a slight edge. Morgantown was in 3rd at 4:53. Musselman was in 4th at 4:58 with John Marshall in 5th at 4:59. I think
Parkersburg was in 6th at 5:03 with Greenbrier East in 7th at 5:05. On leg 3, Cabell Midland moved to the front and opened
a gap. They led through the leg, coming through at 7:15. University was in 2nd at 7:19. Greenbrier East had moved into
3rd at 7:22 on a 2:17 leg from Neena McClintic. Morgantown was in 4th at 7:27. John Marshall was in 5th at 7:28
with Musselman in 6th at 7:29. I believe Parkersburg was in 7th at 7:33 and Jefferson in 8th at 7:38. On the final leg,
Cabell Midland was never challenged, and the unit of Delainey Burger, Maya Casto, Quinn Hazelett, and Adalyn Cantrell
secured the win on a 2:21 anchor leg from Cantrell, taking the line in 9:37.17. University got a 2:19 anchor leg from
Abigail Rogers to maintain 2nd place in 9:39.33. Morgantown got a 2:20 close from Maraid Johnson to move
back into 3rd in 9:47.87. John Marshall got a 2:18 from Zoe Zervos to take the 4th spot. Jefferson moved from 8th
to 5th on the 2:12 leg from Hannah Philips, taking the spot in 9:51.51. Greenbrier East held 6th in 9:53.27, just
holding off Musselman, who was 7th in 9:53.74. Parkersburg took the 8th spot in 10:04.31.
RunWV's Current Score: 78 of 96.
Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Huntington led from the start, but it was really close after two legs. Musselman actually came out of that exchange first
because Huntington was being very cautious with their exchanges. No matter...the Huntington group of Tamara Hamlin, Leilani
Bounds, Macaria Johnson, and Milleah Johnson took the win by nearly 2 seconds in 1:03.53, which is the 5th Best
All-Time State Meet Performance and the 4th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Morgantown came up
for 2nd in 1:05.47. St. Albans and University ran a very tight race in Heat 3 that saw St. Albans take 3rd overall in 1:06.04
and University 4th in 1:06.05. Greenbrier East was 5th in 1:06.49 with Musselman 6th in 1:06.70. No one else was under 1:08.
RunWV's Current Score: 85 of 104.
High Jump
Riverside's Jada Ward was the only jumper to clear 5'4, doing so on her 2nd attempt, to take the win. Cabell Midland's
M.J. Daniels was clean through 5'2 to take 2nd with Spring Valley's Lucretia Jackson and Washington's Jurnee
Vrobel also clearing that makr to take 3rd and 4th, respectively. Morgantown's Emma Smith and Bridgeport's
Abigale Stewart were the only other ones to clear 5'0 in taking 5th and 6th, respectively.
RunWV's Current Score: 92 of 112.
Pole Vault
Morgantown's Harlyn Nelson cleared 10'6 on her 2nd attempt to secure the win and then went on to clear 11'0 on her
first attempt to tie her for the 5th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Spring Mills' McKenna Mullin
and Jefferson's Samantha Ogden vaulted cleanly through 10'0 to tie for 2nd with Winfield's Abbie McGhee also
clearing 10'0 to take 4th. Huntington's Claire Johnson was clean through 9'6 to take 5th with teammate Colette
Dickerson also clearing 9'6 for 6th.
RunWV's Current Score: 100 of 120.
Long Jump
Martinsburg's Eva Craigie had 5 legal jumps, and each one went at least 17'7. Her top jump of 18'3 opened the finals
and sealed the win for her. It also tied her for the 6th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and was the 6th Best
All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Huntington's Siraye Harper opened finals with a 17'9 jump that was
good enough to secure 2nd. Parkersburg South's Kymani Price wasn 17'5.75 on her last jump to move into 3rd. Hedgesville's
Jadyn Macher opened with a 17'4.50 that held up for 4th. University's Mairin Gillespie went 17'2 on her final
jump to take 5th. University's Paige Conrad opened with a 16'10.25 that stood for 6th, and Huntington's Audrey
Flynn went 16'9.25 for 7th.
RunWV's Current Score: 107 of 128.
Shot Put
John Marshall's Paislee Babiczuk sent her second attempt 37'1.50. Spring Mills' McKenna Mullin only had one
throw over 34' in the competition, but it went 36'4.75 to take 2nd. Bridgeport's Lyza Halterman had a 36'4.25 to
take 3rd. Cabell Midland's Cameron Clary was 4th with 36'4. 2nd through 4th were separated by less than an inch.
Hurricane's Jenna Geter only had one throw over 33'6, but it went 35'1.25 to take 5th. No one else topped 35'0.
RunWV's Current Score: 114 of 136.
Discus
Riverside's Cianna Groom only had 3 legal throws, but each was enough to win by over 10'. Her top throw of 140'4
is the 2nd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 2nd Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance.
John Marshall's Paislee Babiczuk threw 122'1 for 2nd with Bridgeport's Becky Pepper-Jackson throwing 121'11
for 3rd. Nitro's Karson Jones sent her final attempt 116'3 for 4th. Cabell Midland's Ava Wortman and
Wheeling Park's Riley Perry each had tosses of 112'11 with Wortman taking the 5th spot on the tie-breaker. No one
else was over 110'.
RunWV's Current Score: 120 of 144.
The final score of 120 of 144 means that 83.3% of the people picked to place did indeed place. That's one worse than last year. I had just two events in which all 8 predicted placers placed: 300 Low Hurdles and Pole Vault. Congratulations to those that proved me wrong.
